Brock Purdy Sets Franchise Record for Most Passing Yards in 49ers History

In a season filled with historic moments, Brock Purdy added another milestone to his resume in the San Francisco 49ers’ Week 17 victory over the Washington Commanders. Purdy’s 230 passing yards in the game surpassed Jeff Garcia’s franchise record of 4,278 passing yards, making Purdy the new leader in 49ers history.

Following the game, Purdy spoke to reporters and reflected on the significance of setting the record. “It’s an honor to be able to come into an organization with the rich history this place has and obviously be able to break a record like that. To me, just the human side of it, it’s cool. I was just a little kid dreaming of playing in the NFL, and to be able to do something like that … man, I’ve got to say it’s a testament to the team that I have around me,” Purdy said.

Purdy also tied Joe Montana and Jeff Garcia for the fourth-most touchdown passes in franchise history with 31 on the season.

With the 49ers clinching the NFC’s No. 1 playoff seed, the question remains whether Purdy and other starters will play in the regular-season finale against the Los Angeles Rams. If Purdy does take the field, he will have an opportunity to further solidify his place in the team’s record books.

Overall, it has been a remarkable season for Purdy, and his performance has played a significant role in the 49ers’ success. As he continues to make history, all eyes will be on how he performs in the upcoming playoffs.
