Climate activists arrested for vandalizing aircraft at Bromma Airport

Sunday morning saw a daring campaign by climate activists at Bromma Airport in Stockholm, Sweden. A group of individuals managed to enter the airport area and spray paint on several aircraft, according to police spokesperson Per Fahlström.

“The arrested persons are reasonable suspects with a lower degree of suspicion,” Fahlström stated.

When asked about how the activists gained access to the field, Fahlström replied, “No, I don’t know how they got into the office.”

The action carried out by the activists is part of a global campaign demanding a ban on private jets. Besides spraying red paint on the planes, the activists reportedly set up research articles on the climate crisis within one of the airport’s hangars.

Swedavia’s press manager Robert Pletzin confirmed that the activists did not breach the airport’s protected area. “Regular air traffic has not been affected. However, an ambulance flight had to be redirected from Bromma to Arlanda as a result of the incident,” Pletzin explained.

The climate activists’ press release stated their intentions behind the action, emphasizing their call for stricter controls on private jets and the need for urgent action to combat the climate crisis.

As of now, the investigation into the incident is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine how the activists managed to breach airport security.

This incident at Bromma Airport highlights the growing frustration and activism among environmentalists regarding the harmful effects of air travel on the planet. With calls for greener alternatives, it remains to be seen how this global campaign will impact the aviation industry and government policies on private jets.
