On Monday, series star and Emmy winner Andre Braugher died after a short, serious illness at the age of just 61.
Braugher was best known for his role as Detective Frank Pembleton in the series “Homicide” and as Captain Ray Holt in the Netflix hit “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”
Now the cause of death has been announced. Accordingly, Braugher had suffered from lung cancer and died as a result of the disease. He had only received the tragic diagnosis a few months before his death.

Braugher played Captain Ray Holt in the comedy series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and became a star in Germany. A total of eight seasons ran on Netflix from 2013 to 2021, and Andre Braugher was one of the absolute audience favorites of the successful series.
The actor previously played the role of Detective Frank Pembleton in seven seasons of the police series “Homicide”. For his performance, he received his first Emmy in 1998 in the category of Lead Actor in a Drama Series. The Emmy is the most important television award in the USA.

He received his second Emmy for Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie in 2006 for the limited series “Thief.” Braugher was nominated for a total of eleven Emmys.
Braugher was married to his “Homicide” co-star Ami Brabson for more than 30 years. The couple had three sons.
