Longtime Partner of Sandra Bullock, Bryan Randall, Dies After Battle with ALS

Bryan Randall, the longtime partner of award-winning actor Sandra Bullock, has sadly passed away at the age of 57. Family members confirmed that Randall had been privately battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

In a statement to CBS News, his family announced, “It is with great sadness that we share that on August 5th Bryan Randall passed away peacefully after a 3-year battle with ALS. Bryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private, and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request.”

The statement also expressed gratitude to the medical professionals who cared for Randall during his illness, stating, “We would like to thank the tireless doctors and astounding nurses who helped care for him, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours.” The family has requested privacy as they mourn the loss of Bryan.

ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects the motor neurons, causing the brain’s inability to control muscle movement. Over time, individuals with ALS lose their ability to speak, eat, move, and breathe.

Randall had been in a relationship with Bullock since approximately 2015. The couple met after he photographed Bullock’s son Louis’ birthday. In a 2021 interview with Red Table Talk, Bullock described Randall as a “saint” and shared that she adopted her daughter, Laila, not long after they started dating. Bullock expressed her love and gratitude for Randall, stating, “I found the love of my life.”

In addition to the two children Bullock adopted, Randall also had a daughter. Bullock emphasized the strength of their relationship, saying, “I don’t need a paper to be a devoted partner. … I don’t need to be told to weather a storm with a good man.”

Bullock’s sister, pastry chef Gesine Bullock-Prado, paid tribute to Randall in a heartfelt message. She expressed her belief that Randall has found peace, saying, “I’m convinced that Bryan has found the best fishing spot in heaven and is already casting his lure into rushing rivers teaming with salmon.” Bullock-Prado praised her sister’s dedication to caring for Randall during his illness and urged him to rest in peace.

In memory of Bryan Randall, his family suggested making donations to the ALS Association or Massachusetts General Hospital’s Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS.

The loss of Bryan Randall is a reminder of the devastating impact of ALS and the importance of raising awareness and supporting research to find a cure for this cruel disease.
