He confirmed to RisingBD that he submitted his resignation letter to BSEC Chairman Khandkar Rashid Maqsood on Tuesday (September 17) morning.

Earlier on Wednesday (September 11), BSEC Commissioner Dr. ATM Tarikuzzaman was given a three-month ultimatum to relieve him from his post.

It is mentioned in the announcement, Dr. ATM Tarikuzzaman, CPA, Commissioner, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission has been given three months’ notice to relieve him from his post as per clause no.8 of the agreement executed with him. He will not hold the post of Commissioner of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission from 10/12/2024. This order issued in the public interest by the order of the President will be effective immediately.

On May 20 this year, he joined BSEC as Commissioner. Before that, on May 8, the Financial Institutions Department of the Ministry of Finance appointed him as Commissioner of BSEC.

It should be noted that after the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, BSEC chairman Professor Shibli Rubaiyat-ul-Islam resigned on August 10. Two days later, the commissioner resigned on August 12. Shamsuddin Ahmed and Dr. Rumana Islam. On August 18, Khandkar Rashed Maksud was appointed the chairman of BSEC, on August 28, former senior district and session judge. Ali Akbar and Farzana Lalarukh were appointed as Commissioners of BSEC by the Financial Institutions Department of the Ministry of Finance on September 3.

Dr. Tarikuzzaman holds an M.Com in Accountancy from Dhaka University and an MBA from South Eastern University (UK Campus). He joined the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission as Deputy Director in 1997.
