The household appliance manufacturer BSH has announced the closure within six months of its plant in Esquíroz (Navarre), which employs more than 660 people. The company of German origin includes the appliance brands Bosch, Siemens, Gaggenau, Neff and Balay and specializes in the production of Esquíroz compact refrigerators and dishwashers.

The company informed employees in a statement that it made the decision after continuously analyzing the competitiveness of all factories to improve their performance and ensure their long-term sustainability. “Unfortunately – we read in the press release – in recent years we have been experiencing a persistently difficult evolution of our markets together with strong competition and, despite the numerous improvement measures implemented, the production of household appliances in the BSH plant in Esquíroz has stopped being competitive .” BSH management “does not initiate the process of closing the plant without having thoroughly analyzed the matter. “This is the result of a thorough examination of various alternatives and measures in recent years,” he adds.

The company “is committed to working to find the best solutions for workers” and announces that between now and June, when the legal consultation period begins, a moment of dialogue will open between management and all social partners.

Reaction of the Navarre government
