The BSP will appear in the upcoming elections for the 51st National Assembly in the “BSP – United Left” coalition. This was stated by the executive bureau of the National Assembly of the BSP in a press release.

“We will not allow the 133-year-old party of the Bulgarian Socialists to be stolen by a few people, in violation of the decisions of the party’s collective bodies and contrary to morality and political logic. Their continued attempts to abuse the name of the party, to bring division and to demotivate socialists and sympathizers of the leftist idea already cause only pity and ridicule,” the statement said.

“The documents submitted today to the CEC for the registration of the BSP by Svilenski and Chenchev – persons who are no longer members of the BSP, representing Kornelia Ninova, who is no longer either the chairman or a member of the BSP, with a signature that was not collected by the legitimate local structures of the party, is an attempt to deliberately harm both the BSP and the broad left coalition. This is done in the interest of forces that do not want a strong Bulgarian left.”

“The legitimate leadership of the BSP will proceed with the registration of the KP “BSP – united left” for participation in the early parliamentary elections as soon as the Supreme Court of Cassation, after its session today, announces its decision on the registration of Atanas Zafirov as acting chairman of the BSP”.

“We expect the CEC to reject registration based on the documents submitted today by Georgi Svilenski and Ivan Chenchev, because parties, not stolen abbreviations, should participate in elections,” the message also reads.

Earlier today, at the time when the case for the BSP leadership started in the Supreme Court of Cassation, those close to Cornelia Ninova, Georgi Svilenski and Ivan Chenchev, decided to submit documents for the registration of the party to the CEC for participation in the early elections on October 27.

The leadership dispute reached the Supreme Court after the rally champion and former deputy Krum Donchev appealed the decision of the Sofia City Court to delete Ninova as representing the BSP and to enter as such the temporary chairman Atanas Zafirov. He was elected as such by the National Council after the resignation of the leader, and then the plenum delegated to him the rights to sign documents on behalf of the party.

And Ninova, Svilenski, Chenchev and Donchev were expelled from the party again by a decision of the National Council. However, they do not recognize it, and the former leader has already authorized Svilenski and Chenchev to register the BSP. Her motive is that according to documents and in the register of parties in the SGS, she is still considered the leader.
