BTS, 19th on Billboard’s ’21st Century Pop Stars’… “Beatles-level success”

The group BTS was named one of Billboard’s ’21st Century’s Greatest Pop Stars’.

Billboard, an American music media outlet, announced on the 10th (local time) that BTS ranked 19th on Billboard’s Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century.

Billboard explained, “BTS has broken through the ceilings of boy bands, K-pop and Korean artists, creating a meaningful community (fandom) inspired by BTS’s message of positivity, love and connection.”

He continued, “(BTS’s) global sensation has become as successful as the Beatles and has become a new blueprint for all pop music.”

Along with this, he mentioned that BTS topped Billboard’s main single chart, “Hot 100,” with a total of six songs, including “Dynamite,” “Savage Love,” “Life Goes On,” “Butter,” “Permission to Dance,” and “My Universe,” and that they topped Billboard’s main album chart, “Billboard 200,” with six albums.

In particular, Billboard explained BTS’s debut, promotions, and solo activities, and emphasized that “no K-pop group has achieved what BTS has this century,” and that “BTS has paved the way for everything from creating a global fandom to expanding K-pop beyond genres and successfully pursuing a solo career.”

Billboard has been revealing its list of the 25 most influential ’21st Century Pop Stars’ since last month. Katy Perry was ranked 25th, Ed Sheeran 24th, Bad Bunny 23rd, One Direction 22nd, Lil Wayne 21st, and Bruno Mars 20th.
