The BTS examination sanctions a very professional and specialized training in two years. The BTS examination is made up of written and oral tests, very diverse according to the specialties chosen by the students.
The higher technician certificate (BTS) is prepared in vocational high schools or CFA (apprenticeship training center). This training is accessible after the baccalaureate or equivalent and provides specialized lessons on one or more specific trades (commercial, craftsman, bank, but also “design and production in industrial boilermaking”…).
The training also includes one or more internships in a company which is included in the evaluation of the teachers but not in the final mark of the BTS exam. It allows to obtain a professionalized diploma in two years.
Registration for the BTS exam
Registration for the BTS exam is done online directly on the academy’s website at the start of the year. Each academy organizes its registrations, exam sessions, and publication of results.
BTS Exam Dates: May 15-17, 2023
The BTS is obtained by a final exam, like the Bac which will take place The common tests will take place from Monday May 15 to Thursday May 17, 2023. Information on the places and dates of passing the BTS tests (high school or exams) will be indicated to you on the convocation which will be sent to you, approximately 3 weeks before the tests (early April), at your place of residence.
Some common written tests take place in mid-May (such as General Culture and Expression, Economy, etc.). Passing an exam at the end of the second year leads to the BTS. There is no continuous assessment mark but the assimilation of knowledge is monitored throughout the two years by the teachers and the results obtained in the first year are decisive for the passage to the second year.
Your invitation tells you that you must arrive half an hour before the start of the tests. Keep a safety margin!
Exam dates for industrial BTS
The common Mathematics and General Culture and Expression tests will take place on Monday May 16 and Tuesday May 17, 2022.
Monday May 15, 2023: Mathematics from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. (2 or 3 hours depending on the group)
Tuesday May 16, 2023: General knowledge and expression from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (duration 4 hours)

The common tests will take place on Monday 15, Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 May 2023 and specialties or optional on May 12, 2023.

BTS remedial oral dates: early July
In 2021, following a strong mobilization of BTS students protesting against the poor preparation conditions for the exam, all the tests had been maintained – an exceptional remedial session had nevertheless been granted to the students. This system having been deemed very satisfactory by teachers and students, the orals were renewed in 2022 and for all future sessions: all candidates having obtained at least 10 out of 20 in the professional field as well as an average of between 8 and 10 in the general field will automatically be allowed to take the remedial tests.

Date of BTS results
Like the registration or the date of the BTS exams, the date of publication of the BTS results is decided by each academy according to its own means. At the beginning of May, the academies generally established their publication calendars, which depended on each specialty.
The publication of the BTS results traditionally takes place each year between the end of June and mid-July depending on the academies and specialties. Mid-July for the results of the catch-up orals.
The publication dates of the BTS 2023 results are being shared by the academies. Each academy decides on its own timetable for publishing the results of exams such as the BTS. Depending on the specialty, the dates and times of publication of the BTS results can be very different – consult the details of the days and times according to your specialty on the website of your academy.
