On the 14th, BTS member Jungkook posted on his personal Instagram account, “Artists are not guilty.”
Jungkook posted a message along with heart-shaped emoticons in blue, pink, yellow, green, and purple. The emoticons are interpreted to symbolize New Jeans members Minzy, Hani, Daniel, Haerin, and Hyein, respectively. New Jeans used the colors of the emoticons when creating characters for each member while collaborating with the American animation ‘Powerpuff Girls.’
Another member of BTS, V, posted several photos on his Instagram on the 12th with the caption, “My memory is a mess, but congratulations to myself on the 1st anniversary of Layover.” V’s first solo album, “Layover,” was created in collaboration with former CEO Min Hee-jin.
Since the post was uploaded during the ongoing conflict between former CEO Min and HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk, some fans are interpreting it as V also supporting former CEO Min and New Jeans.
Adore, a label under Hive, held a board meeting on the 27th of last month, dismissed former CEO Min, and appointed Adore executive director Kim Joo-young as the new CEO.
On the 11th, Adore’s New Jeans members expressed their hope for former CEO Min Hee-jin’s return through a YouTube live broadcast.
The New Jeans members demanded, “Please bring back the representative and return the adore to its original state, not the unfamiliar environment and people it is now in,” and “Return the adore to its original state by the 25th.”
Afterwards, SES member Bada, Cosmic Girls member Dawon, professional baseball player Kim Do-young (Kia), and Seventeen fandom supported New Jeans’ statement.
