BTS’s Jungkook Breaks Spotify Records with Solo Debut “Seven”
Seoul, South Korea – BTS’s Jungkook has made headlines once again, this time for breaking Spotify records with his official solo debut single “Seven.” Released on July 14, the track skyrocketed to the top of iTunes charts in numerous countries worldwide and achieved an impressive 24-hour view count on its music video featuring Han So Hee.
Not only did “Seven” dominate the iTunes charts, but it also left its mark on Spotify. The song debuted at No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Top Songs charts, accumulating a staggering 15,995,378 filtered streams on its first day alone. With this achievement, Jungkook becomes the first male artist from any country to exceed 15 million first-day streams with a new song on Spotify, placing him in the esteemed company of Taylor Swift, who accomplished a similar feat. Only two songs in Spotify’s history, Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero” and “Lavender Haze,” have managed to debut with higher first-day streams than “Seven.”
Making history yet again, “Seven” is not only the highest-ranking song by a male artist in Spotify history but also the first solo track by a K-pop artist to debut at No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Top Songs chart. Jungkook’s bandmate Jimin previously held the record as the first K-pop soloist to top the chart with his debut track, “Like Crazy,” which initially debuted at No. 2 before climbing to the coveted No. 1 spot a day later.
Moreover, the instrumental version of “Seven” made an impressive debut at No. 65 on Spotify’s Global Top Songs chart. Additionally, Jungkook’s previously released solo tracks, “Still With You” and “My You,” landed at No. 54 and No. 113, respectively.
Jungkook’s success extends beyond Spotify as “Seven” also debuted at No. 1 on Japan’s Oricon daily digital singles chart for July 14. In his home country of South Korea, the song reached the top spot on Melon’s Top 100 and various other realtime charts.
