The favorites Alexander Bublik and Felix Auger-Aliassime were able to prevail in the first two quarter-finals at the ATP 250 tournament in Montpellier.

In the quarter-finals in Montpellier, Alexander Bublik narrowly held his own against his neo-compatriot Alexander Shevchenko.
In the Neo-Kazakh quarter-final duel, No. 2 seed Alexander Bublik met Alexander Shevchenko, also born in Russia, who was competing under a new flag for the first time at the tournament in southern France. In the first set, Shevchenko, ranked No. 6, was able to convert his quick 3-0 lead into winning the round despite having equalized to 4-4.
In the second act, Bublik improved and was able to equalize the set after the decisive break in the fourth game. The third set was balanced for a long time before Shevchenko had to give up his serve game without winning a point when the score was 4:4. Bublik’s last service game was exciting. After the 26-year-old was unable to use his first match point, he had to fend off three break points before the 2022 champion was able to use his second opportunity to end the match with a 4:6, 6:3, 6:4 win after just over two hours .
Auger-Aliassime is getting better and better
After his slow start to the season, in which he had to give up in three sets at the opening tournament in Auckland against Daniel Altmaier and in the third round against eventual finalist Daniil Medvedev in Melbourne, the former world number 6 comes. Felix Auger-Aliassime is getting better and better. In his quarter-final against former Australian Open junior winner Harold Mayot from France, the Canadian had to fight back from a break deficit twice in the first round before the 23-year-old prevailed 7:5, 6:1 after 79 minutes and was therefore able to advance to a semi-final on the tour for the first time since his successful title defense in Basel in October. In the round of the last four, the Davis Cup champion will face Kazakh Alexander Bublik.
