Even before the start of the parliamentary examination of the 2024 budget, the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, had assigned a mission to the majority: find 1 billion euros in additional savings.
The return this Tuesday of the finance bill (PLF) in session at the National Assembly promises to serve as a revealing indicator of the success of this bet, while investors are becoming increasingly nervous on the financial markets. “The situation is still tense with a macroeconomic environment that is not improving. But we will be there to meet the objective of a billion additional savings,” assures Jean-René Cazeneuve (Renaissance), the general rapporteur of the Budget to the Assembly.
