A year ago, the launch of “Carnal” was announced, the latest record production by the famous Cuban group Buena Fe, and that was one of the reasons why the Karl Marx Theater hosted the group’s first concert this Thursday after the quarantine.
At the end of the last chords of Mujer ciudad, belonging to that CD, and with which the event began, Israel Rojas, leader of the band, commented how incredible it felt to be performing the concert, and to be able to share his Carnal creations again. , an album that, as he explained, is the one they have loved the most, and the one they have been able to sing the least.
The night was a trip that allowed us to return to old songs, for example, Nalgas, as well as go back and forth between the songs of Carnal, and its predecessor, Sobreviviente.
Thus, “Carnal”, “The Tempest”, “Said the Devil”, “Mía”, “Not one more”, “Kisses”, “Four Stories”, “Who Am I”, “Praise” and “Catrina” followed one another. ”, accompanied by the intervention of two guests: Virulo and the Iris Duo.
The first of them told how one day he was invited to Live de Buena Fe, a program that they shared via the Internet during the pandemic, and then the collaboration arose that resulted in the topic Behave well, which urges maintaining measures to avoid contagion. due to Covid-19, but far from the already somewhat trite discourse, the call to protect oneself has a very Cubanized humorous touch.
From the Iris Duo came a thank you to the group, specifically to Yoel Martínez and Israel, for the support they both provide to new artists to boost their careers.
A special moment of the night was when they performed “Valientes”, from the CD Carnal, which, although it was not intended for that purpose, the song was taken to represent the fight of Cuban doctors at the international and national level to save lives from the clutches of the coronavirus.
The audience, perhaps moved by this, or by the intensity of the lyrics and their meanings in more personal areas, filled the theater with white lights, using cell phone flashlights, therefore creating a kind of moving sea of lights. to the beat of the song.
The theater authorities were demanding with compliance with sanitary measures: hypochlorite on the hands, no food, and a seat in each row to maintain distance. United in the middle of the stage and playing an acoustic version of “Papel en blanco”, the artists said goodbye to their audience, but not before giving them applause from that side of the event. Thus ended the first concert of a series that the well-known band will give this month; The next ones will be on the 21st, 26th and 28th.
