After almost seven years of the affectation, the head of Government Marti Batres led the delivery of the housing unit “Paz Montes de Oca 93”, in the Benito Juarez City Hallfor 24 families affected by the earthquake of the September 19, 2017.

During his visit to the facility, the capital’s president highlighted that the structure of the work was reinforced with 167 tons of steel. “It also has 128 inclusions of 12 meters deep and 40 centimeters wide to strengthen the foundations; it is a rebuilt building with the objective of making it safe,” he mentioned.

The delivery of the work, he said, is part of an investment of approximately 18 billion pesos for the reconstruction of homes.

“The City Government came to the conclusion that the victims of the earthquake should not be debtors. This meant a very large, long-term investment, which I believe will be around 19 billion pesos, more or less, about 18 billion pesos will be needed for the reconstruction as a whole,” he said.

In addition, the Head of Government recalled that there are more than 22 thousand affected homes that make up the census due to earthquake damage, mainly located in the east and central area of ​​the City.

“We can say, schematically, that half of it was in the southeast of the city: in Xochimilco, Tláhuac e Iztapalapa, many single-family homes of low-income families; and the other half, in the central area: Benito Juárez and Cuauhtémoc”, he detailed.
