Bulgaria will enter the Eurozone on January 1, 2026, because inflation is under control and we will fulfill this criteria. This was said by the president of KNSB Plamen Dimitrov.

“The economy has been suffering for the past one year. And not only because of the political crisis in our country, but also because of a recession in Western Europe. This is directly reflected in the loss of jobs in Bulgaria. The politicians, stuck in the rapidly changing governments, did not hear us. We even proposed measures, but no one listened to us,” he explained, however.

The president of KNSB explained that the most important thing at the moment is to introduce some measure that is similar to this “60:40” during COVID-19, which is through the Labor Code.

Companies with this aid, according to him, must meet certain criteria – such as a drop in production, inability to sell production on foreign markets, etc.

“The idea is that these companies, which are in difficulty, should not fire people, but should receive some state support. Thus, workers will receive a salary instead of registering at the labor offices and receiving benefits,” he told bTV.

Plamen Dimitrov also pointed out that the second big problem facing any government is energy. Before the elections, according to him, all politicians said that we should wait for the formation of a regular government, but “there are many ticking bombs in this sector”.

“Some BGN 250 million were voted on an annual basis for four years. This happened before the campaign and election carousels. The problem is that this money is not secured for 2024, and it is already July. In “Mini Maritsa-East”, every month they wonder where they will find money for salaries in order to continue working”, he added.

The president of KNSB explained that the state budget is moving relatively well towards the middle of the year.

“The caretaker finance minister is to be commended but he will be asked to provide funds. Whether this will be done through an update of the budget or through the restructuring of expenses, I do not know. But this should be done sooner,” he explained.

Plamen Dimitrov recalled that the finance minister must find additional money in higher education as well as in health care.
