Bulgaria will win nine medals from the Olympic Games in Paris, but none of them will be gold. This shows the final forecast of the statistical company Gracenote, commissioned by the research center Nielsen.

According to the forecast, the Bulgarian athletes will finish in 70th place in the final medal ranking, winning one silver and eight bronze, reports BTA.

The statistical model indicates that only boxer Javier Ibanez will reach the title match. The Cuban-born Bulgarian national is ranked number 2 in the men’s 57-kilogram starting line-up and is certainly one of the favorites for the honor.

Boxing will also bring another medal for Bulgaria. It will be in the same category, but for women, and will be won by Svetlana Kamenova.

Our country will be pleased with two medals from artistic gymnastics – Stiliana Nikolova in the individual all-around and from the ensemble. Valentina Georgieva on vault in sports gymnastics will also climb the ladder of honor.

Wrestling and weightlifting will bring two medals each. Semyon Novikov is expected to take bronze in the category up to 87 kilograms in classical wrestling, and Magomed Ramazanov will also be among the prizewinners, but in the category up to 86 kilograms in freestyle wrestling.

Surprisingly, Graysnout places the European champion in the weightlifting category up to 89 kilograms, Carlos Nassar, only as a bronze medalist, and Bozhidar Andreev will receive the same color medal in the 73-kilogram category.

At the previous Olympic Games in Tokyo three years ago, Bulgaria won six medals, three of which were gold – for Stoika Krasteva in women’s boxing, Ivet Goranova in women’s karate and in the rhythmic gymnastics ensemble.

According to Graceknott’s estimate, athletes from the United States will win the most medals at the Olympics – a total of 112, of which 39 will be gold. China will finish in second place with 86 medals (34 gold). Hosts France will finish third with 27 titles and a total of 60 medals. Great Britain will take 63 medals, but only 17 gold, and the top 5 will be completed by the Netherlands’ competitors with 16 Olympic titles and 34 medals.
