Lora Hristova arrives in Otepaa as the most titled girl with three gold medals from the last championship

Bulgaria sent 15 of its best biathletes to participate in the World Summer Championships. The planet championship will take place at the end of this week in the Estonian sports center Otepää and will feature over 300 elite athletes from 33 countries.

The complex has been completely renovated with significant improvements to the shooting range and the routes. The Bulgarians arrive in Estonia with justified self-confidence and hopes, after last year’s world championship in Oserble (Slovakia) our country won three gold medals, and with her victories in the super sprint, sprint and pursuit among the girls, Lora Hristova became the most titled biathlete of the championship.

Vladimir Iliev, Anton Sinapovi Vasil Zashev will represent us now in Estonia for the men, and Milena Todorova for the women. A viral illness prevents the participation of Blagoi Todev and Maria Zdravkova. For the girls, we are still counting on the three-time world champion from last year LoraHristova, together with the medalists from the planet championship in the relay Valentina Dimitrova and Stefani Yolova, they are joined by our Botbora Irina Georgieva, Raya Adjamova and Nikol Klenovska. The youth were led by the fourth at the Youth Olympic Games, Georgi Georgov, plus Konstantin Vassilev, Nikolay Nikolov, Georgi Naumov and Veselin Belchinski.

From this season, the best Bulgarian biathletes are preparing under the guidance of the distinguished specialist Wolfgang Pichler and Robert Kabukov, who is responsible for the immediate training process, assisted by Mikhail Klecherov. The World Championships in Otepaa start tomorrow, Thursday, August 22, the qualification series and the super sprint finals for the youth and women, a day later on Friday are the same races for the men and women.

On Saturday are the sprints for all ages, and the championship ends on Sunday with the pursuits for the youth and mass gala starts for men and women. The Planet Summer Championship is the last major test before the start of the new season, which begins on November 30 with the World Cup round in Kontiolahti (Finland). The Pre-Olympic Winter will determine the participation quotas for the 2026 Milan/Cortina Winter Games.
