The Ukrainian Svetlana U. is one of the suspects in the organization of the explosion of the Nord Stream gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea in September 2022. However, she presented an alibi – at the time of the terrorist act she was on vacation in Bulgaria, writes the German publication Die Zeit “.

The destruction of the gas pipeline interrupted the supply of Russian gas to Germany. And a few days ago, Germany announced that the explosions were organized by Ukrainians.

At the beginning of September 2022, the boat “Andromeda” departs from the German coast of the Baltic Sea. There were 6 people on it – 5 men and one woman, among whom there were professional divers. And for renting the boat, 2 fake passports were used – 1 Bulgarian and 1 Romanian.

From the boat, the Ukrainians dived to a depth of 80 meters and placed explosives on the pipes of the Nord Stream gas pipeline.

Only a few days ago, in Germany, Ukrainians were announced as suspects in the sabotage, as the leader of the terrorist group was Volodymyr Z. He is wanted.

However, Svetlana U. “Di Zeit” described the 40-year-old woman as a true Ukrainian patriot. After the outbreak of the war, the woman was engaged in collecting donations for the purchase of equipment for the Ukrainian soldiers. Her husband Yevhen U., who is a professional diver, also participated in the team. Svetlana herself is also involved in diving.

Although they have been declared complicit in the sabotage, the two have not yet been declared wanted.

“In September 2022, I was on vacation in Bulgaria,” however, Svetlana claimed in a telephone conversation quoted in the German press. She neither knew Volodymyr Z. nor knew anything about the destruction of Nord Stream.

Svetlana U. is still active on social media, reports “Di Zeit”.

Ukraine’s connection with the sabotage was also rejected by the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky.

However, according to an investigation by the Washington Post, the Ukrainian colonel Roman Chervinsky was behind the plan to blow up the gas pipeline. He is currently on trial in Kiev because, in an attempt to lure a Russian airman into surrender, he revealed the location of a Ukrainian base to the Russians.
