Bulgaria’s Kristina Zlateva, multiple Republican Billiards Champion, placed second in the US Women’s Billiards Association tournament held in Charleston, South Carolina with a prize fund of USD 45,000.

There were 64 participants. On the way to the final, our girl defeated two of the women in the top ten in the world: Kelly Fisher from Great Britain and Kristina Tkach from Russia, who, however, played without a flag.

In the heart-pounding final, Christina faced Alison Fisher of Great Britain, ranked third in the world, and only one error in the last game sent her into second place.

Christina is now with a new American coach, and although he only stands by her in the final days of the competition, he gives her a quick tip in the final: “It’s just a little more billiards. Every ball is for itself. You play with the balls and you have no other purpose.”

Kristina Zlateva has been a pool competitor for 15 years, and at the last European Championship in Slovenia she won bronze, and in previous years she won bronze and silver again. The young woman is focused on the moment when the last ball she hits takes her to victory.

Christina is coming up to the World Billiards Championships, which will be held in New Zealand from September 2-8, and hopes are high that she will move further up the rankings from her 10th place in the world rankings.
