work going on in gujarat

The work of laying track for bullet train is going on at a fast pace in Gujarat. More than 35,000 MT of rails and three sets (03) of track construction machinery have arrived for the project in Surat and Vadodara. The fleet of machines includes rail feeder cars, track slab laying cars, CAM laying cars and flash butt welding machines. It will be used for track construction works. Assembly, testing and commissioning of these machines is in progress.

flash butt welding machine

Flash butt welding machines are used to join 25 meter long 60 kg rails together to form 200 meter long panels. A total of 3 FBWMs have been purchased so far. These machines will have to go through a rigorous testing process to ensure that the rail welding is perfect for bullet trains running at speeds of 320 km per hour. Training has been completed by JARTS for Rail weld finishing and Rail weld testing.

The track is being laid like this

The pre-cast track slabs are lifted on a specially designed track slab laying car and transported to the track laying location. Track slabs are laid on the RC track bed, using an SLC that can lift 5 slabs at a time. 3 SLC cars have been arranged for the slab laying work.

rail feeder car

The 200 meter long panels are transported and laid on the RC track bed using rail feeder cars. This will push the RFC rail pair onto the RC bed and the temporary track will initially be laid on the RC. A total of 4 RFCs have been purchased so far.

cement asphalt mortar

After placing the track slab at the appropriate location on the RC bed, the CAM car moves on the parallel track. This CAM Car mixes the ingredients in the design proportions for the CAM mixture. This CAM mix is then injected beneath the slab to achieve the required line and level of the track. So far 2 CAM cars have been purchased.
