This was announced by the president of the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo) of the Mexico City Congress, Jesús Sesma, who even said that is already preparing the respective lobbying.

In that sense, the local deputy for the Green Party stated that he is fully committed to the proposalso that now they remain bullfighting prohibited in CDMX.

After several unsuccessful attempts against the bullfights in CDMXthe capital congress will receive a new proposal that could ban them once and for all.

In this regard, Jesús Sesma highlighted that it is a citizen proposal in which the need for put an end to the so-called “fiesta brava” in Mexico City (CDMX).

Given this, the legislator assured that he is fully committed to the promoting citizens, for which he said that will seek to lobby with each of the deputies to achieve approval.

Despite the above, he said he was fully respectful of the deputies who have in mind to vote against the proposal, after which he guaranteed that their vote will be in favor of it.

Even when expressing his commitment in favor of the initiative that aims to eradicate bullfighting in CDMX, Jesús Sesma said that would like the ban out to national level.

It should be noted that since last September 3, the CDMX Congress received a proposal citizen which establishes the need for ban bullfighting in CDMX.

This proposal was confirmed by the Electoral Institute of Mexico City (IECM)which confirmed and corroborated the 27 thousand 442 support signatures citizens that were collected.

Regarding this, Jesús Sesma said that the proposal had to be analyzed and debated during the previous period of sessions, but when he did not vent, he stated that its ruling will be accelerated.

For this reason, on January 8, the Commission on Constitutional Points and Citizen Initiatives of the CDMX Congress, held a meeting with the livestock sector interested in the topic.

At the meeting, it was announced, the capital legislators listened to the opinions of the producers regarding the possible effects that would bring with it the ban.
