A bullock cart race was held on Viramathi-Tirupathur road on the occasion of Manthaiyamman temple festival in Viramathi village near Tirupathur. A total of 35 carts participated in it and it was held in 3 categories namely Periyamattu Cart Race, Medium Mattu Cart Race and Chinnamattu Cart Race. In the first Periyamattu cart race, 6 carts participated and Amaravathiputur Velukrishnan cart won the first prize, Kanadukathan Arun cart got the 2nd prize and Thulaiyanur Bhaskaran cart got the 3rd prize.
Later, 10 carts participated in the Nadumattu Vandiya race and the first prize was won by Enakudipatti Yashini and Parali Ganesan, 2nd prize by Nallangudi Muthiya and 3rd prize by Neivasal Periyasamy and Sathikottai Karupiya.
Finally, 19 carts took part in the Chinnamattu cart race and the first prize was won by Tallampatti Nithismangaiyarkarasi cart, 2nd prize by Velayanwayal Chinnamma and Onangudi Abdullah cart and 3rd prize by Gudalur Padaraja cart. Prizes and a trophy were awarded to the owners of the winning carts.
