One moment, a little weird, caught the attention of NBA fans and maybe could have changed our tone of voice right now. It happened right in the closing minutes, when Spencer Dinwiddie tried to find Kyle Kozma in a pretty routine delivery – which suddenly went in the opposite direction. Why, you ask? Well, another look revealed that Brooklyn assistant coach David Winterpool touched the ball and diverted the delivery into the hands of the Nets player. Kyle Kozma, who was furious at the time, commented on the incident at the end: “It’s bullshit. Coaches should not have the opportunity to stand at all. Steve Nash blocked the referee’s vision, he can see nothing.”
Acting Washington coach Joseph Blair, who replaces coron-sick Wes Anseld Jr. on the lines, was also surprised: “You ask me if he may have touched the ball, but there is no doubt. He touched the ball. My initial reaction was’ I’m “I do not believe.” In all my time in basketball, I have never seen such an event that disappeared from the eyes of the referee.
Blair continued: “It’s true we could have done a lot of other things in the game and we do not deserve to complain about such a thing, but this is the best league in the world. It must be above that. And I have nothing against this specific referee, the truth is he is a good referee “To believe. As I said, I’ve never seen anything like it.”
“It’s ridiculous that the NBA allows bench people to crowd in regularly, let alone invade the field,” NBC added. “Winterpool touched the ball, a Hunts bench player was with his foot across the line, and that happens in almost every game.
