BOLZANO. Bullying in third grade. Physical and psychological violence, even during class, as explained by the parents of the class involved and as confirmed, in broad terms, by the provincial councilor Philipp Achammer (this is a comprehensive institute whose name we do not mention to protect the children involved) in response to a detailed question presented by Südtiroler Freiheit.
“Some of the students involved – Sven Knoll & Co. explain on the basis of the detailed accounts of the parents involved – had to seek medical treatment following the violence suffered. We are talking about slaps, but also punches (even in the private parts), sometimes using sharp objects. The student in question followed the targeted classmates into the bathroom where he mocked and threatened them. The same individual is said to have stolen school supplies from his classmates by throwing them out of the window or even down the toilet drain. After having acted, the student in question threatened the weakest in the class, making sure they did not tell their parents. There are students who, following these acts of bullying, have then had sleep disorders, panic attacks but also fear of returning to school”.
Even the quality of the lessons, according to some parents, would no longer be optimal. During the last school year the problem boy was removed from school but the parents fear that he could return to class in September. And for many this is a cause for concern.
Achammer: «A network has been built with social services, psychiatry, the association La Strada, teachers and parents». Councillor Philipp Achammer answered the various questions point by point, confirming the existence
of the problem. “I contacted the school which immediately built a network involving Developmental Psychiatry, Social Services and La Strada so as to be able to regularly take stock and agree on the various measures to be undertaken. Disciplinary measures were also taken during the year which led to the suspension of the student from lessons. The student was and is part of the class, even if
he did not attend the second part of the 23/24 school year. In September we will initially start again without him but the situation will be followed step by step, with all the necessary resources, until he is reintegrated. The teachers involved are benefiting from the assistance of qualified personnel with the Schoolhelp project followed by the primary school Donatella Arcangeli. The children involved are being followed in the same way».
