For weeks, the young Afghan family had to fear for their lives and hide from the terrorists who have taken power in Afghanistan. The reason: Samim had worked as a local employee for the Bundeswehr until June 2021.
At that time, after the Taliban came to power, he said to BILD: “I have had death before my eyes for eight days. I wondered what the Taliban will do to me. Will they shoot me in the head or stab me with a knife? “

None of that came true! Samim and his family ended up in Berlin at the weekend. Then it went straight to Münster to see family members.
“It’s incredible. I am finally safe and have all the worst memories behind me, ”Samim told BILD. Many people were waiting for the Afghan family at the airport: “I am very happy. Thanks to the many people who met us at the airport, I was able to make the best memories of my life. Because this human gesture left me speechless. ”
In the future he wants to help other local workers from Germany to flee the Taliban: “I have received a lot of support and I would pass that on because many of my colleagues are still in Kabul and are hiding from the Taliban terrorists. I will work for the Bundeswehr in Germany and help them to help the other local staff in Kabul to get to safety. “
