jpnn.comJAKARTA – In less than two weeks the Indonesian National Team will host Vietnam in the continuation of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The heated duel that will determine the fate of Shin Tae Yong’s team will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) Senayan Jakarta.
It is hoped that the stadium, which is the pride of the Indonesian people, will not be used for activities before the match which will be held on March 21 2024.
It cannot be denied that the use of SUGBK is not just for football activities. But also other events outside of sports, from music, religious to political events.
The condition of the SUGBK grass looked bad because several spots of the grass looked yellow and the grass surface was uneven when the Indonesian U-20 National Team held a trial against Thailand in January 2024. This is because the intensity of the 2024 election campaign activities will be carried out quite closely.
Football observer Kesit Budi Handoyo reminded the importance of the quality of field grass in football matches.
He encouraged no use of SUGBK at least before the Indonesia vs Vietnam match.
“Of course, the condition of the field is something that is very important in a match. We hope that the condition of the grass at GBK is of the expected quality so that the match will run well,” said Bung Kesit.
In less than two weeks, the 2026 World Cup qualification between the Indonesian vs Vietnam national team will be held at SUGBK.
