Burglary of Kimpembe’s home: two young men sentenced to prison

by time news

They justified their action by “the lure of profit”. Two 21-year-old men were sentenced to ten and eight months in prison on Thursday by the Versailles Criminal Court (Yvelines) for the burglary last November of the home of PSG player Presnel Kimpembe.

The two young people admitted the facts, while maintaining that they did not know that they were going to the home of the 27-year-old French international defender on November 25, 2022. They explained that they could only enter one room. from the house before fleeing, seeing the guard arrive. In their escape, they fell from the veranda through which they entered the house and lost their loot, jewelry and clothes, they told the court.

Their expedition was not “prepared at all”, and it was a third man who had designated the places to them, they added, refusing to give his identity. They justified their gesture by “the lure of gain” and “ease”, confronted with “money problems”. The two young people then expressed “regrets” and conceded having made “a big mistake”.

“A violation of privacy”

The two men had been taken into custody on Tuesday at the gendarmerie brigade in Noisy-le-Roi, a small town located between Versailles and Saint-Germain-en-Laye, before being presented to the prosecution on Thursday morning.

“It’s a main house that has been searched, visited, it’s a violation of privacy: it’s not pleasant,” pleaded the player’s lawyer, Yasmina Belmokhtar, indicating that his client had “to heart” to preserve “his private life and that of his family”. The lawyer asked for a symbolic euro in damages for non-pecuniary damage.

The two defendants will benefit from an adjustment of sentence and will be able to carry out their detention at home under electronic bracelet, specified the court. During this hearing in immediate appearance, the public prosecutor had requested eighteen months in prison, six of which were suspended and a warrant of committal against the two defendants.

Presnel Kimpembe adds to the list of PSG players whose home was burgled after Thiago Silva, Icardi, Choupo-Moting, Di Maria and more recently the family of captain Marquinhos.
