Burkina/SENAC: Culture is an immeasurable force, a bridge connecting generations (Governor)
Ouagadougou, Nov. 06, 2023, (AIB)-The Secretary General of the Central region, representing the Governor, Ram Joseph Kafando, declared Friday that culture is an immeasurable force and a bridge connecting generations, ethnicities and beliefs in our country, which has faced terrorism in recent years.
“In Burkina Faso, culture is an immeasurable force, a bridge connecting generations, ethnicities and beliefs. Burkina Faso has always been keen to safeguard, enhance and promote cultural diversity through several activities including the Regional Culture Week,” declared Friday, the Secretary General of the Central region, representing the Governor, Ram Joseph Kafando.
For him, it is no exaggeration to say that the SNC is the forum par excellence for valorizing and promoting our country’s know-how.
The secretary general spoke on Friday in Ouagadougou, during the opening of the competitions of the regional selection phase, for the final of the National Culture Week (SNC) scheduled from April 27 to May 4, 2024 in Bobo-Dioulasso.
“It is a moment of celebration and competition between cultural actors in the regions. An opportunity to highlight the rich heritage of our cultural heritage,” said Mr. Kafando.
He specified that the celebration of regional culture weeks highlights and embodies the resilience of our country.
According to the general director of National Culture Week, Chrsitiane Sanon, in the current context of our country marked by its harsh times, “we quickly realize the need to return to the fundamentals of our society to take culture into account in the consolidation of living together.
She added that the necessary consolidation of the relationship of trust between culture and the rest of our society requires that our actions in favor of cohesion provide greater reassurance.
“This is where culture finds its meaning and becomes an art whose wonder is to build a collective destiny,” she said.
The President of the special delegation of district 6 of the commune of Ouagadougou, Céline Poda/Somé, urged the population of her district to actively participate in the various scheduled activities in order to mark their commitment to the promotion of art, culture and talent.
The ceremony was sponsored by the President and CEO of Sissima, Achille Sow.
351 artists in all categories will showcase their talents over two days in performing arts, culture and sport to designate the region’s ambassadors for SNC Bobo 2024.
