Burkina: The Transition intends to restore order and discipline in the markets and yaars
Ouagadougou, November 16, 2023 (AIB) – The Transition, unlike politicians, does not court voters, and will focus on bringing order to markets and yaars, tracking down traders who store products there explosives and to fight against speculation, Burkinabè Prime Minister Apollinaire Joachim Kyélem de Tambèla promised on Thursday.
“We must restore order in the markets and markets, discipline and put an end to speculation,” declared Burkina Faso Prime Minister Apollinaire Joachim Kyélem de Tambèla.
According to him, the blame is shared and traders live off this disorder.
“No one wants to attract the wrath of anyone, so they let it happen even when we know that the neighbor is acting illegally, that he is storing explosives or that he is smuggling, we let it happen “, he indicated.
The Prime Minister spoke Thursday in Ouagadougou, at the opening of the States General of Markets and Yaars under the theme: “Management and operation of market infrastructures in Burkina Faso: state of play and perspectives”.
Apollinaire Joachim Kyélem of Tambèla added the responsibility of the public authorities, the town halls, the Presidents of special delegations, the ministry in charge of Territorial Administration, responsible for order, discipline, management of these markets and yaars .
He continued that one of the causes of the disorder comes from politicians who favor their supporters to have votes and or have subsidies and funding for their political party.
“We did not come through political parties, so we are not dependent on that. We are free to bring order and we want order for the general interest,” the Prime Minister clarified.
Me Apollinaire de Tambèla has promised prosecutions against traders who live on speculation, who rent their hangars to others at prices twice higher than the prices set by the town hall, in complicity according to him, with town halls or delegation presidents special and also against those who live on annuity.
These states general must be an opportunity for each actor to ask themselves the real questions that undermine our markets and markets because, he said, “we cannot move forward with indiscipline”.
“It will be necessary in the future plans of the markets and yaars, the construction at level of our markets, it takes less space and it provides more sanitation and comfort,” he maintained.
For the Minister in charge of Trade, Serge Gnaniodem Poda, the markets and yaars are doing moderately well.
“Discipline is not respected, there are prohibited products stored in these markets and yaars which harm the peace and life of all those who come peacefully to carry out their activities,” he said.
Minister Poda specified that the Estates General is a forum for the participants, the representatives of the structures of these market infrastructures to exchange in a holistic manner without taboos on the main concerns, the issues and all the constraints which undermine the proper functioning of the markets and yaars.
It is in view of all the constraints and difficulties noted that these general states were organized in order to take strong resolutions by all the participants to have markets and yaars free of all kinds of unfortunate situations.
This decision was taken on September 11, 2023, during the meeting for direct exchanges between market traders and yaars with the President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
