Burundi has just successfully organized the 11th Summit of the Regional Monitoring Mechanism of the Addis Ababa Framework Agreement. This meeting brought together many leaders and representatives, thus testifying to the importance given to regional and international cooperation.
Eleven years after its signature, the Framework Agreement presents a framework where the root causes of the complex conflicts, which have lasted for several years in the region, can be apprehended in a consensual manner. The Agreement is a political and reference framework for lasting peace and stability in the region. It is subscribed to by all countries and organizations in the region as well as by major international players.

Their hard work was noticed and appreciated, helping to make this summit a resounding success.
The summit saw record attendance by many leaders, including the presidents of South Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, the Central African Republic, as well as the prime ministers of Rwanda and Kenya. The presence of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Secretary-General of the African Union also underlines the importance of this regional event and of the cooperation between international and regional organizations.
