Bus accident in Isère, King Mbappé celebrated and agreement on the high seas

by time news

This weekend, it was (far too) cold and you probably didn’t have the heart to let yourself be swept away by a wind of non-stop news, not always happy. A good choice since, you know, we were there to watch and we deliver our summary to you. Of course, we could have talked to you about our interview with Michel-Edouard Leclerc (let’s remember this shocking sentence: “we will remain in a phase of permanent inflation for ten years”), the controversy which caused the PS du Rhône to implode or forecasts “strike of March 7” of the SNCF and the RATP (to be found here). We preferred to select five other big news that should not be missed during the last forty-eight hours… Spoiler alert: we are talking about football.

1. An investigation that is accelerating

Three months after the mysterious disappearance of Leslie Hoorelbeke and Kevin Trompat in Deux-Sèvres, the gendarmes found, on Saturday, two bodies in Charente-Maritime, not far from the home of a suspect. However, they have not yet been formally identified. “The bodies will be autopsied during the day on Sunday and Monday,” said the public prosecutor of Poitiers, Cyril Lacombe, in a press release on Saturday evening. The autopsies will take place in Pontoise, in the Paris region, at the Criminal Research Institute of the National Gendarmerie (IRCGN). Depending on the result of the autopsies, a press conference will be held “Monday or Tuesday” to give more information on the course of events and the investigation, said Cyril Lacombe.

This double discovery almost destroys the hopes of finding alive Leslie Hoorelbeke, 22, and Kevin Trompat, 21, who have not given any sign of life since the night of November 25 to 26 in Prahecq, a town of 2,000 inhabitants near from Niort.

2. A celebrated King Mbappé

There is no love, only proofs of love. Saturday evening, the Parc des Princes and Paris Saint-Germain proved to Kylian Mbappé how much they love him disproportionately. Proof number one: 40,000 people voluntarily agreed to freeze themselves for half an hour more to celebrate an individual performance. There was everything. Songs to the glory of the new top scorer in club history (201 goals), a nice little word from the president live from Qatar, July 14-style fireworks, a giant portrait floating above the lawn and, inevitably, a podium mounted in a hurry for the guy. We have known despots who were less well served. And less smiling. “It’s very special, recognized Mbappé after the victory against Nantes (4-2). The last time I was [sur le podium] here it was to announce that I was staying. Coming back as top scorer is a privilege. »

3. A school bus accident

A school bus accident injured around twenty people, including two adults in absolute emergency, Saturday morning in Corps, in Isère. The children and their companions were returning from a ski holiday in the resort of Saint-Michel-de-Chaillot (Hautes-Alpes). Forty-six people were on board the bus, six adults and 40 primary school students, when the vehicle “exited the road” on the RN85 – better known as the Napoleon road and renowned for its dangerousness – at height of the commune of Corps, indicates the prefecture of Isère. During the night from Saturday to Sunday, the 40 students were able to find their families, domiciled in the Paris region. Transported by train, the children, aged 6 to 10, returned to Sceaux “safe and sound”, we learn from the Grenoble prosecutor’s office.

4. A “historic” agreement on the high seas

“The ship has reached the shore. The member states of the UN finally agreed on Saturday on the first international treaty to protect the high seas, intended to counter the threats to ecosystems vital to humanity. After more than fifteen years of discussions, including four years of formal negotiations, the third session in New York was finally the right one… or almost.

Delegates finalized the text with content now frozen in substance, but it will be formally adopted at a later date after it has been vetted by legal services and translated to be available in the six official UN languages.

5. A crowded Salon that closes its access

” It’s catastrophic. Since 4:30 p.m., we have not been able to return. There is no place to get reimbursed. Like Sami Honein, a 38-year-old Parisian, many visitors to the Agricultural Show were stranded outside this Saturday. A victim of its own success, the Salon decided to close its doors at snack time, two hours earlier than planned, for security reasons. The very large crowd made it difficult to circulate in the aisles. “Our show is a popular party that should be kept comfortable,” organizers said in a statement, urging Saturday visitors to return this Sunday. In question, an audience that is increasingly made up of clusters of alcoholic visitors, increasingly uninhibited as the visiting hours stretch and the beer kegs empty.

So much so that the message “a drink with friends, yes, but always in moderation” resonates regularly in the pavilions while “soakers” – employees loaded with cans of water to rehydrate visitors – are mobilized. In the middle of the week, Arnaud Lemoine, director of the National Center for Agricultural Exhibitions and Competitions (Ceneca), owner of the Salon, had called for preserving this “great popular festival” from excess alcohol.
