A bus carrying many Venezuelans fell into a ravine while trying to reach the United States. Thirty-one people are injured.

Nine people died in a bus accident in Colombia while trying to reach the United States, local authorities said. In this bus, many Venezuelans were trying to reach North America. Thirty-one others were injured in this fall of the bus into a ravine. Army Colonel Luis Jesus Leon told reporters that “90% of the occupants of the bus are of Venezuelan nationality and were traveling to the north coast towards the city of Cartagena”.
According to the police, six men and three women died. Two of them are minors. The accident occurred around 4:20 a.m. local time (9:20 a.m. GMT) near the municipality of El Playon, in the department of Santander (northeast), on the road to the Caribbean coast of Colombia.
Already another accident last week
Civil protection first indicated that the bus carrying more than 40 passengers was traveling on the road linking Cucuta to Bucaramanga, in the northeast of the country. The accident occurred when the bus left its trajectory and fell a hundred meters into a ravine.

On the images released by the civil protection, we can see the vehicle in the middle of bushes and scattered clothes on the place of the accident. Road accidents are one of the main causes of death in Colombia. Last Tuesday, eight people were killed when a bus collided head-on with a semi-trailer in the department of La Guajira (north).
