By lockdown, Muscovites bought weights, tools and mayonnaise. At the same time, some stores are just preparing for the influx of customers, and experts warn of a surge in cyber fraud. Non-working days in the capital will last at least until November 7. At the same time, as Kommersant has found out, some of the Moscow enterprises are actively expanding their capacities and expect consumer spending to increase significantly during the long weekend. What will the residents of the capital do on non-working days? And what is the business preparing for? Vladislav Viktorov with details.

Rush demand since the first lockdown of 2020 will not be repeated, say businessmen from the capital, interviewed by Kommersant FM. Citizens do not expect to be locked up for several months, and they are accustomed to the fact that online stores can always help out.

However, the Moscow service sector on the eve of the closure faced an influx of customers: barbershops and beauty salons even extended opening hours. Muscovites bought beauty products that can be used at home, said Valery Prokopyev, head of the Wildberries marketplace press service.

According to him, other goods for leisure at home are also in trend: “The demand for hair dyes, manicure and pedicure machines has grown by 1.5 times. Many Russians have decided to devote their free time to renovating apartments and summer cottages. The demand for building materials has increased 2.5 times, for tool sets – twice. Sales of laptops, computers increased by 121%, monoblocks – four times. New monitors were bought six times more often. ”

Judging by the data from the Ozon marketplace, consumers also bought warm clothes, goods for cars, and in the “18+” category, sales increased by 60% compared to the previous week.

However, the service is preparing for the influx of buyers during the lockdown, says Anastasia Samoilova, head of the press service of Ozon: “The demand for adult goods increased by 60% weekly, as it was during the spring self-isolation of 2020. There is an increase in sauces, shelf-stable mayonnaise and ready-to-eat foods. The demand for ready-to-eat meals will increase dramatically during the weekend, and we will increase the production capacity of our culinary department. ”

Some food delivery services even increased prices on the eve of non-working days. This was done, for example, in the “Chef Market”, increasing the cost of dishes by 3-7%. Grocery stores are also preparing for increased demand. For example, X5 Retail Group told Kommersant that their Pyaterochki were provided with a two-month supply of food.

And Metro Cash & Carry expects a greater number of future purchases, said Anna Shchepilova, director of communications for the retail chain: “The demand for alcohol has grown dramatically. At the same time, there is no excitement for the categories of products that are considered to be essential goods. The buying scenario is really connected with the weekend, with the time spent at home behind the stove. We expect more demand in the next few days, both from us and from colleagues. We do not foresee any problems with supplies ”.

At the same time, on October 27, not only shops and marketplaces became more active, but also scammers. Experts from BI.ZONE have found more than 3,000 phishing sites that are very similar to popular e-commerce sites.

And users should be careful when making purchases during non-working days, co-founder of the StopPhish project Yuriy Drugach agrees: “Fraudsters can steal money from a card, if you leave its details in the public domain, they can resell personal data. Most fraudulent resources can be identified by a number of indicators. For example, to recognize a fake link when an attacker masquerades as some kind of official store: in this case, substitution of letters for other characters, or for other letters, double links, redirects and some other site address is most often used.

Moscow lockdown will cover not only the November weekend, but also Halloween. And according to Wildberries, residents of the capital do not intend to abandon the celebration because of closed clubs and bars, but they are buying more actively than in 2020. Thus, the demand for make-up, carnival costumes, masks and props has tripled, and the average check increased by 20% – up to 1.3 thousand rubles.
