Roberto Bernabei, Pope Francis’ archiatrist, head of the geriatrics department and president of the Italia Longeva association, makes an ideal visit to the patients: «A third are the same“ protagonists ”of the first epidemic waves, the over 75 years old. Half of them were hospitalized for problems related to old age and, once subjected to a swab, it was discovered that they also had Covid, albeit in a mild or asymptomatic form. Diabetes, heart failure and chronic diseases brought them to us, not Sars-CoV-2. The other half was not vaccinated ».

10 avoidable days
The anti-Covid preparations could spare this audience of healthy people at least 10 days of an infectious disease that can leave aftermath. Bernabei warns: «It’s not always a walk in the park. You heal and then you don’t know if you will bring with you some boredom, even slight ».
Long Covid
The Higher Institute of Health has just published a report on Long Covid, a disease of those recovered from Covid who, even two months after the negative swab, suffer a series of persistent after-effects. About 200 symptoms affecting different organs have been counted. There may be some cases of reinfection in vaccinated elderly, but it happens for all vaccinations, in even higher percentages ».

The images of the no-vax processions, all assembled and without masks, cause fear of a reflection on the RT, already rising, and in addition there are reports of outbreaks in the holiday resorts. “It is absurd that not even the evidence of the extraordinary effect of vaccinations, the equally evident damaging effect of Covid 19, even in young people, persuades these people to behave civilly, respectfully. I can’t believe that ideology and prejudices towards science are stronger than reality. Never as today we have incontrovertible data. The vaccine saves life. The virus can extinguish it or ruin it ».
The other vaccines
Italia Longeva has always pushed on the importance of vaccinations in over 65s. Also this year antinfluezal, anti-pneumococcus (responsible for a form of pneumonia) and anti herpes zoster are recommended.
