At a time when the war in Ukraine seems to be bogged down and set to last, the fate of Alexeï Navalny is the least of the worries of Russian power. In any case, this is what Dmitri Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, supports, as reported The Independent. But despite these (somewhat contemptuous) remarks, Moscow is very interested in the future of Vladimir Putin’s most famous opponent. The proof: Navalny was moved from the penal colony of Pokrov, where he had been locked up since the winter of 2021, to another place of detention.
The news filtered Tuesday June 14, but it had not been the subject of announcements from the Kremlin. Which has not communicated on the new “destination” of Navalny, and until today the most total vagueness reigned as to the place where the opponent is now locked up.

He was jailed last year for a two-and-a-half-year sentence, and later sentenced to a further nine years for fraud and contempt of court. Last month he was charged in a new criminal case and faces an additional 15 years in prison on charges of founding an extremist organization and inciting hatred towards the authorities.
