Founded in Cologne in 1980 by the art collector Benedikt Taschen, the publishing house specializes in beautifully illustrated books that often achieve cult status: Perhaps you are familiar with the large format reference work with hidden images- like the pictures by Hieronymus Bosch, which are presented in detail here, the turquoise-bound illustrated book for the Career of David Bowie, or – you can also dare to do this in Taschen – the pink “Big Unloved Book” with pictures corresponding to porn games.
