BVB boss Hans-Joachim Watzke reveals his dream for the rest of the Champions League season. This has to do with FC Bayern.
Dortmund – BVB meets Atlético Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. This year’s final will once again take place at Wembley Stadium in London. FC Bayern is also still in the competition, so a repeat of the 2013 German final is still possible. Hans-Joachim Watzke wants revenge and reveals that he still hasn’t come to terms with the defeat.
BVB boss Watzke dreams of redemption in the Champions League
Im Playmakerpodcast with Sebastian Hellmann, the BVB boss was asked about a possible premier class final against the record champions and said the following:
“That would be my dream. Then we would finally have the opportunity to close this wound that has been opening up for me since 2013. I still haven’t seen the game after eleven years. I tried to do it every Christmas and just couldn’t do it. I recently saw Robben’s goal again in the 89th because I didn’t switch off quickly enough.”
Hans-Joachim Watzke remains realistic about BVB’s chances
Watzke also knows that a possible dream finale is far from being set in stone: “But we don’t have to kid ourselves. There’s a lot of wishful thinking involved.”
“Sure, on the one hand you only have to win twice and then you’ll be in the final. On the other hand – look at the draw – look at the teams that are there. There’s not much with surprise teams anymore. But everything is what I would have said before the season – except perhaps for us – they are there.

BVB boss Watzke is not ruling anything out
Should Borussia Dortmund prevail in the quarter-finals, either FC Barcelona or a reunion with group opponents Paris Saint-Germain would await in the round of the last four.
Possible opponents for BVB in the final would currently be FC Bayern, Manchester City, Arsenal FC and Real Madrid. The Black and Yellows are going into the rest of the CL season as big outsiders. “But I had that feeling in 2013 too. “We’ll just take a look,” announces Watzke.
