The shock of just missing out on the championship has apparently been digested. Borussia Dortmund wants to play for titles again next season. Coach Edin Terzic made that clear.

Coach Edin Terzic from Borussia Dortmund gave the DFB Cup victory as a goal before the first round game at TSV Schott Mainz on Saturday (3.30 p.m. / Sky).
“We are very keen to bring titles back to Dortmund. And to be honest, the cup is the shortest way,” Terzic said two days before the game and added: “We’ve often seen how great a DFB Cup final can be. And how great it can be to lift the trophy. But there is a long way to go before that. And that means being there from the start.”
Dortmund last won the DFB Cup in 2021 with then interim coach Terzic. Between 2012 and 2017 they reached the final five times in six years. Terzic himself also posted a picture two years ago in which he was standing in the fan block at the 2012 final against German record champions FC Bayern Munich with a black cap and BVB scarf.
Very conscientious preparation for Mainz
His team was “very conscientiously prepared for the first task with the regional league promoted team. Although it wasn’t easy to get video material from the Oberliga”. At the first regional league game on Tuesday at FSV Frankfurt (3: 4), BVB scouts were on site, and the video material was then extensively analyzed. Two days before the game, Terzic was even able to list individual opponents’ strengths.
The opponent is “great euphoria after promotion, and it’s an absolute highlight game for them,” said Terzic. Probably without Adeyemi
Terzic will probably have to do without Karim Adeyemi in Mainz.
