A deafening ringing silences the conversation. Quick action is now required; there are only a few minutes left before an emergency call is made. Did someone mistake an alarm button for the light switch? Just as suddenly as the turmoil began, calm returns. It’s our first evening on the MS Fleur, and two false alarms will be the only disruptions on our two-day journey along the Seine before we dock at Paris’ Port de l’Arsenal and disembark for the last time.
For the first time, mind you, without the bicycles with name tags that Marcel conscientiously provides for us every morning so that we can stow them back on the deck in the afternoon to save space. Although we are staying on a ship, we cover half of the route from Moret-sur-Loing to Paris by bike. We explore the Île-de-France on sandy paths and country roads while the Fleur sails leisurely downstream to welcome us in the evening with cozy comfort and a menu inspired by French cuisine.
