By hosting COP29, Azerbaijan will contribute to climate change.

As Day.Az reports, former Croatian President Ivo Josipovic said this to Trend on Saturday on the sidelines of the XI Global Baku Forum.

He emphasized that Azerbaijan has always successfully hosted events of international importance.

“State and government officials from all over the world will come to Azerbaijan and take part in COP29. This in itself is a great indicator. The results of the discussions and negotiations that will take place at this event will be useful to the whole world and humanity.

I believe that Azerbaijan will contribute to climate change by hosting COP29,” added I. Josipovic.

It should be noted that COP29 will be held on November 11-12, 2024 in Baku.

Let us recall that the official decision to hold the COP29 conference in Azerbaijan was announced on December 11, 2023 in Dubai.

We also note that the XI Global Baku Forum is attended by representatives of many countries, as well as prestigious international organizations: more than 350 guests from more than 70 countries.

The forum, which will last until March 16, will host global discussions on the results of COP28 and preparations for COP29, factors that create threats to the new world order, as well as security issues and prospects for ensuring peace, building sustainability in a fragmented world, its impact on the global world, ways to solve the challenges facing humanity will be discussed, conflicts and mega-threats shaking the world will be discussed, including climate, food and nuclear security issues.

At the same time, there will be discussions on the role of military and economic alliances in global governance, regional perspectives, the European Union and its relations with its neighbors, youth policy, ways to increase resilience to global challenges, inequality, natural resource scarcity and migration issues, artificial intelligence, and also new security paradigms in the era of drones and cyber weapons.
