There is no bad luck without good opportunity, that could be Donald Trump’s maxim. As soon as he was released from Fulton County Jail, Georgia, the former President of the United States himself published on X (formerly Twitter) his judicial photo which had already made the rounds of the American and international press. “ELECTORAL INTERFERENCE NEVER SURRENDER,” he wrote below the photo in capital letters, the text of his message referring only to the site collecting donations for his election campaign.

This is the first message that the New York magnate has posted since November 19, 2022, and his “rehabilitation” by Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter. He had been banned on January 8, 2021, two days after his supporters attacked Congress in Washington, and because he kept claiming that his defeat in the 2020 presidential election was due to a widespread electoral fraud, hatched by the Democrats and the “mainstream” media.

“If you can, donate to oust Joe Biden”

While still in litigation with the company, Trump is breaking his commitment to communicate exclusively on the Truth Social platform, the application developed by his startup Trump Media & Technology Group. Thursday, there were, it is true, only 6.4 million subscribers. When he was an avid Twitter user, the Republican billionaire had more than 88 million followers. And in 50 minutes, this new message from Trump had been seen more than 14 million times, it reached at midnight, Florida time where Trump lives, 6 a.m. in France, an audience of 42 million people.

On his site for the 2024 election, Trump is more talkative. “Today at the notoriously violent jail in Fulton County, Georgia, I was Arrested despite having committed NO CRIME,” he begins. “What happened is a travesty of justice and interference in the elections. The left wants to intimidate YOU. (…) If you can, donate to oust Joe Biden from the White House and SAVE AMERICA in this dark chapter of our country’s history”.

Barely an hour after boarding his plane from Atlanta to New Jersey, Trump had already emailed his supporters.

The amount of donations so far collected has not been given, there is no doubt that it will be the subject of generous communication. Advancing large sums, even if they are a little exaggerated, is a weighty political argument, which each time demonstrates the blind support of its voters for Donald Trump.

This new criminal indictment in Georgia, after several other cases, has still not shaken the faith of his supporters, and their belief that the victory of 2020 has been stolen from them. The latest CBS poll on the Republican race gave him 62% of the voting intentions, a record.
