In Más Vale Tarde, Beatriz de Vicente has detailed how the murder of a woman and her son in Carabanchel could have occurred, a matter that “was prosecuted from the first moment.” What happened to the judge is that she had no “support” to place a restraining order.

When the trial arrives, what De Vicente considers “one of the great scourges of gender violence” appears and that is that the victims “have that love and forgiveness” with their aggressor.

“The Prosecutor’s Office acts. She neither appeals the restraining order nor fights it, she maintains it. She withdraws the accusation, doesn’t ask for anything and says I don’t remember,” he explains. This situation, adds De Vicente, “is very frustrating in the criminal field,” since “you know that the events in question have occurred.”

In the trial held in December 2022, the woman forgave her attacker, taking advantage of her right not to testify. “By saying I don’t remember, the judge says that he has no evidence. They are clandestine crimes. If the only evidence is the witness…” adds the lawyer.
