the refresh brings notable technical upgrades to the segment, expanding a model range that first arrived in the local market in late 2024.
Pricing and the New Entry-Level Dynamic Variant
The headline addition to the lineup is the baseline Sealion 7 Dynamic variant, which carries a retail price of RM163,800 without add-ons and insurance. According to berita.rtm.gov.my, the lower price point is designed to meet diverse consumer budgets and accelerate electric vehicle adoption across the country. Since the original launch in November 2024, more than 6,300 units of the D-segment electric SUV have been delivered to Malaysian customers.
To celebrate the debut, early buyers of the entry-level model receive promotional incentives. BYD Sime Motors is offering the first 300 purchasers of the Dynamic variant a choice between a complimentary wallbox charger or an immediate RM4,000 reduction off the retail price, lowering the entry barrier to RM159,800. Meanwhile, the higher-end Premium and Performance variants are priced at RM188,800 and RM203,800 respectively. While the new Dynamic trim anchors the low end, the Premium and Performance models are notably costlier than when they debuted in November 2024, when they retailed for RM183,800 and RM199,800.
Technical Specifications Across the Sealion 7 Range
Under the skin, the updated lineup splits into distinct performance tiers. The rear-wheel-drive Dynamic model utilizes a single rear motor generating 245 PS and 380 Nm of torque, clearing the 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.3 seconds. It packs a 71.8 kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate battery, yielding an NEDC range of 520 km, which translates to roughly 440 km under WLTP testing. It supports DC charging up to 110 kW and AC charging at 7 kW.
The Premium and Performance variants receive substantial hardware upgrades borrowed from European specifications introduced in late 2024. Both now feature a larger 91.3 kWh Blade LFP battery, replacing the previous 82.5 kWh pack. The single-motor Premium delivers 313 PS and 380 Nm, achieving a 0-100 km/h time of 6.9 seconds—slightly slower than the pre-update 6.7-second mark due to the added weight of the bigger battery. Its range climbs to 650 km NEDC or about 553 km WLTP.
At the top of the pyramid, the dual-motor Performance variant pairs a 218 PS front motor with the rear motor for a total system output of 530 PS and 690 Nm of torque. It maintains a 4.5-second sprint time to 100 km/h, while its WLTP travel range rises to 502 km, up from 454 km in the previous version.
Faster Charging and Interior Equipment Differences
The adoption of the 91.3 kWh battery pack brings a significant electrical architecture upgrade for the Premium and Performance models. Following the Atto 3 updates earlier in the year, the dual higher-tier models now utilize an 800-volt electrical system.
That shift unlocks higher charging speeds, as industry reporting anticipated ahead of the launch. DC fast charging capability jumps from 150 kW to 230 kW, cutting charge times from 32 minutes down to just 24 minutes. AC charging for the duo remains capped at 11 kW.
Cabin layouts remain largely familiar across the lineup, featuring the signature 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch rotatable central touchscreen. However, trim-level compromises separate the budget Dynamic from its stablemates. The Dynamic makes do with faux leather seats, a 10-speaker in-house audio setup, and omits the 50-inch augmented reality head-up display found on the higher variants. By contrast, the Premium and Performance boast full leather upholstery, a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system, hands-free power tailgates, and a new Ultraviolet exterior paint option exclusive to the Premium tier.
Market Expansion and Upcoming Public Showcases
The rollout is backed by physical displays for prospective buyers. Consumers can examine the updated vehicles in person at a dedicated roadshow hosted at 1 Utama Shopping Centre, which runs from July 29 to August 2, 2026.
