BYD unveiled the Yangwang Altior in Abu Dhabi on November 7, 2026, launching a 5.6-meter flagship electric limousine aimed directly at Rolls-Royce and Mercedes-Maybach.
Known as the Dingyao in China, the Yangwang Altior measures 5,600 millimeters long, 2,030 millimeters wide, and 1,590 millimeters tall, featuring a 3,500-millimeter wheelbase. The model is 201 millimeters longer than a Rolls-Royce Ghost.
The electric vehicle division of Chinese automotive giant BYD staged its first brand event outside China at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.
Design Inspired by Ancient Bronze Vessels
Design inspiration stems from the ancient Chinese ding, a ceremonial bronze vessel associated with power and status. The vehicle features a front grille composed of 137 individually polished gems framing an oracle-bone-script emblem made of 24K gold.
Twelve lighting elements rotate and illuminate sequentially from the outside inward as the owner approaches. From the side profile, the limousine exhibits a short front overhang. It features a long rear overhang.
A separate triangular window is positioned in the C-pillar. Twin character lines extend 4.8 meters along the body.
The exterior sits on 275/45 tires fitted to 21-inch wheels, which feature floating wheel center caps designed to keep the Yangwang logo upright while the vehicle is in motion.
The rims are available in multi-spoke, polished disc, and fully covered designs, with the disc arrangement drawing immediate comparisons to the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class and its monoblock styling.

Coach doors allow the front doors to open to 80 degrees and the rear doors to 90 degrees. Bespoke umbrellas are stored inside the door panels.
The exterior rides on 21-inch wheel choices comprising multi-spoke, polished disc, and fully covered designs.
Craftsmanship Inside the Executive Cabin
The cabin uses a four-seat layout centered on zero-gravity rear recliners equipped with four-head mechanical massage systems and leg rests. Rear occupants enjoy 354 millimeters of knee room and 1,209 millimeters of legroom.
A single button press reclines the seats, raises footrests, closes power sunblinds, and activates cabin aromatherapy. Additional tactile details include jade inlays.
Engineers evaluated metal components during development by tapping them with small hammers to compare their sound and feel. Across eleven interior touchpoints, 48 individual decorative controls are designed to catch and reflect ambient light.
Audio is supplied by a 39-speaker Dynaudio Platinum Evidence system featuring rotating motorized tweeters. A 21.4-inch power-retractable screen drops from the ceiling to support conference calls and entertainment.
Front and rear refrigerators provide storage, including a 5.5-liter rear unit offering independently controlled cooling and warming functions, accompanied by a 532-litre luggage compartment.
BYD E4 Platform and Xuanji A3 Semiconductor Power the Altior
Underneath, the vehicle utilizes BYD’s e4 platform, which independently controls four electric motors. Active suspension continually adjusts to road conditions to ensure passenger comfort.

The Altior serves as the pioneer application for BYD’s in-house 4 nm Xuanji A3 assisted-driving semiconductor. This technology powers the God’s Eye A navigation suite, which manages end-to-end navigation from parking space to parking space across both highways and complex urban streets.
Battery Range and Preorder Pricing
A second-generation Blade Battery delivers a driving range exceeding 1,000 kilometers on the CLTC cycle. The high-voltage architecture supports flash charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10 percent to 70 percent in approximately five minutes.
The quoted range is based on the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle, meaning real-world performance under other international testing standards may differ.
Preorders opened in China following the Abu Dhabi premiere for the initial four-seat “Shanhe Dingyun” edition, which is strictly capped at 399 units worldwide.
Buyers in China face an expected price of 2,080,000 yuan, roughly $311,500, requiring a 300,000 yuan deposit. A subsequent five-seat version is scheduled to follow.
Altior brings together the depth of Chinese culture and our ambition to create something extraordinary for the people who will experience it,
