51-year-old resident of Vitebsk Vadim Kovalev sentenced under Article 370 of the Criminal Code (“Insulting state symbols”) to 2 years of “home chemistry”, and later included in the list of citizens involved in “extremist” activities.
After that, at the end of 2022, Vadim left for Latvia, where he received refugee status. There he worked on renewing his driver’s license in order to continue working as a truck driver.
On September 14, Vadim was found dead in one of the parks of the city of Riga. His body is still in the morgue, the police are conducting an investigation. The mother and brother of the deceased do not have the means to repatriate the body to their homeland, BySol reports.
