In a statement to MAP on the occasion of the summit of the Detailed Program for the Development of African Agriculture (CAADP), Mr. El Bouari stressed that the Kingdom of Morocco reiterated, during this event, its commitment to continue its efforts to transform its food system to make it more inclusive, resilient and sustainable, with the aim of achieving the objectives set by the 2014 Malabo Declaration on the transformation of African agriculture.
In accordance with the new development model, Morocco’s sectoral strategies and efforts focus on a profound and sustainable transformation of food systems, giving priority to the human element, said the minister who is leading a large Moroccan delegation to this summit, organized from January 9 to 11 in the Ugandan capital.
In this regard, the government official cited the agricultural strategy “Green Generation 2020-2030”, the “Forests of Morocco 2020-2030” strategy and the “Halieutis” strategy, noting that these initiatives have contributed to building a resilient agricultural system, recognized at the continental level.
This resilience was highlighted in the assessments linked to the biennial monitoring reports of the Action Plan of the Malabo Declaration, where Morocco ranked first in North Africa and second at the continental level, after Rwanda, indicated Mr. El Bouari.
The summit, which aims to renew the commitment of Member States to the implementation of initiatives linked to the transformation of African agriculture for the period 2025-2035, was an opportunity to highlight the active role of Morocco since its return to the African Union in 2017, he underlined, noting that the Kingdom has been able to align and coordinate its national strategies with the commitments defined in the 2014 Malabo Declaration.
The work of the CAADP Summit opened on Thursday with the participation of a large Moroccan delegation led by Mr. Ahmed El Bouari and composed in particular of the Secretary General of the Department of Agriculture, Redouane Arrach, the Director of Irrigation and the Interim Agricultural Land Development, within this department, Zakaria El Yacoubi, and the Ambassador of Morocco to the United Republic of Tanzania and the Union of Comoros, Zakaria El Goumiri.
The summit, organized by the African Union Commission, is attended by more than 2,000 participants, including heads of state, government officials, representatives of the private sector and civil society, as well as experts and scientists. .
During this event, under the theme “One voice, one land”, participants will work towards the development and adoption of the CAADP Action Plan (2026-2035) and the Kampala Declaration.
