Cabify has proposed to Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda create a dialogue table on the future of urban mobility and air quality in cities after the ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) on the sector of Transport Vehicle with Driver (VTC).

This was announced by the senior vice president of ‘Stakeholder Relations’ of Cabify, David Pérez, in his speech at the IV Symposium on Mobility and Cities of El Español.

Specifically, the company proposes setting up a dialogue table where there is representation from various groups and sectors to study the present and future of the way of moving around cities.

The objective of this dialogue table is, according to the firm, to avoid a “new regulatory patch” that will once again generate “uncertainty and legal insecurity” in key sectors for the present and future of urban mobility, such as taxis and VTC. .

“We understand urban mobility in a comprehensive way, where the citizen has various options to move around the city, with public transport as the backbone and supported by many other alternatives. From Cabify We are not looking for a liberalization of the taxi sector or the VTC. We want to make cities better places to live, and for this we must offer enough alternatives to citizens so that they do not have to depend on their private cars, and this involves a progressive and consensual opening of discretionary transport in various cities”, he explained. Perez during the day.

The company has stressed that in cities like Barcelona or Valencia, there are queues every day at airports and stations, which reflects the scarcity of shared vehicles available to citizens and tourists, without having yet reached the peak of the tourist season.

In fact, Cabify has stated that it has not been able to serve almost half of the requests from users in Barcelona over the last few weekends, which shows the existing imbalance in the city, which worsens as it progresses. the tourist season.

“A platform like Cabify is an ally for governments and taxi drivers, to achieve better cities that respond to the new needs and expectations of citizens and visitors. Technology allows us to have data that provide key information for decision-making and manage mobility more efficiently: providing service to more passengers and reducing emissions due to the network effect”, Pérez said.
