In the second quarter of this year (April to June), the rate of implementation of decisions taken by the cabinet is 65 percent. This information is known from the second quarter report of 2024 regarding the implementation of decisions taken in the cabinet meeting.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina chaired the Cabinet meeting at Ganabhaban on Monday (July 29). At the end of the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Md. Mahbub Hossain informed this information.
The cabinet secretary said that seven meetings of the cabinet were held from last April to June. 60 decisions were made in it. 39 decisions have been implemented. Accordingly, the decision implementation rate is 65 percent.
He said, four policies or strategies, 9 agreements or protocols were approved in the cabinet meeting from April to June and four laws were passed in the parliament.
Mahbub Hossain said, when Sheikh Hasina was the prime minister in 2000, she gave an instruction that the laws which were made during the British period should be gradually converted into Bengal. We should abolish those laws which are not necessary. Later in 2015 he decided again, giving a similar directive in the second meeting in 2024. After receiving instructions we seriously engage with it. We identify 244 laws, which were enacted during the British period. We can see that 25 of them have been cancelled. 199 actually nothing happened.
Mahbub Hossain said, there were a few remaining, which various ministries are working on. When we sat down with the ministries, the laws made during the British era, these ministries were not like that. There was an ambiguity about which ministry would do which. Today we have taken a decision from the Cabinet to exercise them through the Legislature and divide the various Ministries so that the work is completed quickly.
