A. The Chief Minister said in the Cabinet meeting that KV Thomas will be given the same title as Sampath. When Sampath was appointed as Kerala’s representative, he was given cabinet rank and his own office, staff and accommodation. The main responsibility of the Special Representative is the liaison work of the Government of Kerala with the Central Government. At that time, the Chief Minister had stated that the post was to use Sampat’s experience as an MP.
At present there are two representatives of Kerala in Delhi for the same work. A senior IAS officer is working centrally at Kerala House. Also former diplomat Venu Rajamani is Kerala’s Special Representative in Delhi. Apart from these two, KV Thomas has been appointed.
